I've updated the top post with all the information we've gotten from the article, as well as added a new section highlighting some of the current challenge tames in the game to give my fellow gnomes an idea of what may be awaiting them!
if they do remove the buffs, that will help ease the pressure on my stable slot situation, but I would hate to see a major hunter utility, being able to provide missing buffs to a raid, go away just as we get hunters into our Gnome raids! :\
I'll start the process of culling my stables, based on the current buff situation in your post and my normal go to raid buff guide, the wowhead "Buffs and Debuffs" guide/table.
I'm not into pet battles and pet collecting, but I find it hard to resist a nifty hunter pet tame! 50 stable slots "should" be plenty, but I keep having to make hard decisions as they add in more nifty options. I like the idea of mechanicals, and find this one particularly attractive, hope it does make it in!
I've wondered why the hunter cup is overflowing, but the warlock devs can't task the art team to give us greater diversity in our 'lock demons?
This guy showed up in the latest build. Not sure if he'll be a hunter pet or a vanity pet, so I tossed him up on the Speculative list for now! However I am leaning towards Vanity pet as he also has his own icon which hunter pets don't really get.
Also in this build it's worth a note that Aspect of the Pack no longer offers a group-wide running speed buff. It seems like Aspect of the Fail's days are coming to an end as we knew it. It's still in the game but now it seems like it offers very specific buffs to abilities to you or your pet depending on your spec, and your pet's spec.
Lastly, the Alpha is going on Christmas Vacation. The servers will be closed on Dec 21 and won't be returning until "Early 2016", the same as with Overwatch's Beta. So there will be a large gap without any new news or datamining. Hopefully once it comes back they will toss out more invites, and you'll be able to test more specs!
I wonder if that new one could be the Survival spec level 100 talent, Sentry Turret/Spitting Cobra? (It was Sentry Turret in the earlier build [7.0.1 Build 20773], but now it's Spitting Cobra in the current build [7.0.1 Build 20810], which I don't care for nearly as much as the earlier Sentry Turret implementation.) http://legion.wowhead.com/spell=194407/spitting-cobra#changelog
REMINDER: I still want to see lists of the mechanical pets you cant live without! I mentioned this at the guild meeting a couple weeks ago.
With "all but a couple" mech pets "hidden away", I have to assume that extra work will result in FEWER available mech pets. So we better start asking NOW for the pets we REALLY WANT to be able to tame, lest they be left out to MAYBE be included in a future patch.
This is information Jeremy Feasel basically asked for weeks ago on Twitter. Were you listening? Did you respond with your favorites? If you werent, and you didnt, that was a lost opportunity. It may still not be too late, but every day that goes by, that window of opportunity closes down. Dont get shut out.
I've already asked for my faves and will continue to do so. If you guys respond with short lists of your Must Haves as I asked, I'll try and incorporate your feedback into mine. But again, I urge YOU to be pro-active about what you want to see in this critical moment while we have Blizzard's ear! Get on Twitter and be part of the discussion.
Since I just got this on my hunter I thought I should mention it here. In order to tame the Direhorn's from Panderia you must first be in Beast Mastery Spec. Then Secondly you have to farm the Dinomancers from the Isle of Giants to get the book to drop. It is easy now but if your planning on race changing an existing hunter into a gnome, now is a good time to get that little deal off your list.
I believe it took me 30 mins- 1 hour to get it to drop. So not to bad, I have also decided to farm up the white raptor mount from that area too! Since it is really really easy now! I did find it rather amusing to have my dog "Nobs" attacking the different dino's...it was rather...erm...ironic :)
Good point, my old hunter that I've now worked on leveling in preparation for a Gnome race change already knows the Ancient Zandalari Knowledge learned from the Ancient Tome of Dinomancy. 8)
I also have a bunch of rares and other favored hunter companions that I'll need to cull to make room in my stables for Legion and Mech companions.
Since this thread already contains Legion hunter discussion and spoiler info, the current alpha implementation of the Beast Mastery artifact, Titanstrike:
Titanstrike’s equip bonus summons Hati, the guardian of the Titanstrike. Hati is spirit beast that resembles Skoll in a lighter shade of blue (side note: Hati and Skoll are brothers in Norse mythology). Hati does not replace your primary pet, this is an actual secondary pet you will have at your side as long as Titanstrike is equipped. Dual. Wield. Pets. It’s finally happening! It sounds like Hati may start as a simple guardian pet, but one of the major traits gives him a serious upgrade.
My guy already runs as Beast Mastery, I'm excited about Titanstrike, and I already have Skoll in his stable. But for those who are also planning to go Beast Mastery in Legion and don't already have Skoll, this time between expansions might be a good time to add Skoll to the stable. 8)
Best way to update a post with a new potential gnomish model pet? Do so while listening to the Pacific Rim theme as loud as you can. :D
Hope everyone had a good holiday, mine's been very hectic and still isn't even over yet! x__x
But! The Alpha servers for Legion are back online and we have a NEW model! Check out this sweet puppy, literally!
This robotic wolf showed up on datamined files today along with updated Kodos, an awesome fox mount, and CORGI'S!
It comes in five different colors, the one above is the green/silver variant. It also comes in red/silver, bronze/silver, blue/silver and black/pale gold. Of course it's not possible to tell which colors will be used for tamable pets. Maybe all colors will be made available, or maybe we'll only ever see one. It also appears that the model has glowing eyes, and sparks that fly off of it's body.
Hopefully we'll be seeing even more with future builds!
New build went up today, no new pet models as of the last time I checked (12:45am EST), but we have our very first Gnomish looking hunter weapon design for the new artifact!
The only unfortunate thing is this weapon is a bow, meaning that it is only available to Marksmen Hunters, and Marksmen hunters are losing the ability to use pets completely in Legion. Plus being an artifact you cannot transmog this cool looking design.
Ah well, least it looks awesome!

Updated the mech pets info with what was recently discovered on the Alpha on Petopia - the colors of two tamable mechstriders and that mechanical chickens are tamable!
Also worth mentioning is that aside from Mechanical pets, there are several other new tamable families and models coming in Legion!
Scalehdides This family includes the famous kodo, stegodons/thunder lizards and the mushan from Pandaria. I hear rumor you can tame a kodo model that is carrying cargo on it's back, but it's not listed amongst the models available for taming. May be a bug.
Oxen: Models include the Shoveltusk from Northrend, Yaks from Pandaria, and the new Musken models available on the Broken Isles.
Mana Worms: The small mana worms that are the first mobs you get to kill when rolling a new blood elf. I would not be surprised if the Arcane Wyrms currently tamable under the serpent/snake family get moved to this group before release.
And lastly under the existing Silithid family, Sandreaver models (The short, low to the ground 6-legged squiggly things) will be tamable in legion. This includes the boss Kurinnaxx in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj.
