I spent this morning clutching my coffee cup and blearily reading over everything. When MoP was announced at Blizzcon, I was very 50/50 about it. Now, I can say it sounds like it will be an interesting expansion. Still, however, I'm waffling about the Pandaren and Monk class. I think that's something I'd have to play around with before I'd commit to it.

And really...... who can fault any expansion wherein a Faction Leader is the Final Raid Boss?

Yeah, I think it'll be a good one.

Edit: I would have to say the one change I just don't get their argument for is getting rid of "Have Group, Will Travel". Plain flat out do not get it. There was something else that I thought was silly, but now I can't remember what it was.

Whoa? Why are they getting rid of it?

I haven't read over everything. I say the druid cosmetic minor glyphs and got to distracted with my excitement.

To be precise, they're going to "replace" it. I take this as it's going - or at least they'll put some goofy further restrictions on it. This is being done because they want us to see the world. However, I just don't see the point given that all the instances have stones, and most guilds have at least 1 warlock.

But not everyone is a Warlock and its too big a convience for to many, that is probably the reason there.

Well playing Devils Advocate for a moment, I think they are seeing that the Mass Teleport and Mass Ressurect guild perks they put in to make it easier for guilds to get their members to the Raid on time, and more easily recover from a bad wipe...are in fact being used most frequently in world PvP.

Have Group Will Travel is being used to summon an entire PvP Raid instantly anywhere a stealthed Rogue can go, and completely bypassing defensive obstacles (such as ground and aerial guards) that Blizzard setup to make it more difficult.

Mass Rez is being used to recover from world PvP raid wipes quickly in cities for example without having to deal with obstacles (like farther graveyards for attackers than defenders) that Blizzard intentionally put in place to attacking more difficult.

I think this is yet another example of PvP being the reason why we cant have nice things.

These are very good points you bring up. This is also why I don't pvp very much - I just never think of doing stuff like that.

I'm curious as to who will lead the Horde now...In my mind, Thrall absolute cannot take back over. As much as the various Hordies would like that to happen. It seems to me that if he, indeed, is the new aspect of earth, that he cannot be the head of one of the major factions anymore.

Baine? I like Baine! I'd imagine that the horde leader as to be orc, troll, or tauren. Lord knows Syvannas won't be able to lead the horde. Well... I don't think she'll be able to lead it. I guess we'll find out. Hopefully though, it won't be Thrall.

It'll be interesting to see who you're aiding in the raid. I'm assuming that you'll be helping whoever is going to take over the horde. In which case, it'll be interesting how they work the alliance factions in...do we have a desire to see a certain npc to become their leader rather than who the horde decides to take over. Or, will it simply be Varian wanting to exact revenge for Theramore, Ashenvale and countless other places, so we just get rid of him, leaving a power struggle within the horde? I wouldn't be surprised if Thrall is leading the charge to take him out, we witnessed his anger at the killing of Cairne during the 4.2 quest line.

Ther has to be a common storyline between the horde and alliance on this though. Otherwise, you effectively create two "realms" within a realm. One where the horde had an internal struggle and decided to remove Garrosh and one where the alliance decides to take him out.

It will be interesting to see how this story develops.

I don't have alot of time right now but I am of the opinion that we may see the Alliance actually ally together and we will see the Horde degress almost to the point of civil war/in fighting once Garrosh is dead.

((Sorry have to run back to work, will expound a bit more once I get off tonight or tomorrow.))

Man I don't get all the Thrall hate, (and in interest of full disclousre, Thrall and his story are what got me into WOW) he was no more over used than say the Lich King was in Wrath or Deathwing in this expansion. Thrall created the Horde in its current incarnation and it was already falling apart quickly under Garrosh watch, the Forsaken are running rampant under his nose and almost blatantly, so the Blef's won't be far behind. The Tauren are pulling back to Mulgore, and the Trolls hang on because Vol'jin has respect for Thrall. The Goblins stay because Thrall invited them, (And the money) , storyline wise I don't see anyone who can heal the Horde rift other than Thrall. Cataclysm seems to have made Thrall a pariah of sorts and I really don't understand it and kinda wonder if Varian will get the same amount of Hate when Panderia is done?

The only Major Horde figure that might be able to step up and take Thrall's mantle to heal the rifts in the Horde hasn't really been seen since BC, and thats Rexxar.

I got into WoW Lore because of Thrall so I kind of like him. However I would rather see a new person unite the Horde than to have them bring back the Hero of all Orc Kind.

Don't get me wrong, I like Thrall. I'm not saying anything bad about him. I'm just saying, story-wise, he can no longer be the leader of the Horde. Sure, he can do his part to help heal the rifts and bring the horde back together. But, he can't re-become the warchief because he's the new aspect of earth. As an aspect, I would think that he now needs to be nuetral and a friend to both sides. While I don't see Varian liking that much, with Jaina's help (and possibly part of the storyline of MOP), I think he can live with it, especially if Thrall comes to him asking for help with bringing down Garrosh.

Spoiler question...I wonder if Jaina and Varian finally get involved with one another...

There are no more aspects they gave up their power to defeat Defeat Deathwing and stop the hour of twilight. You see this in the final cut scene of Dragon Soul.

I thought they just weren't doing dragon aspects anymore? That it was the time of the mortals and all that. I'll have to watch that scene again.

This is all speculation on my part, but I have been playing Blizzard games for quite a few years now, so I sort of have a feel for how Chris Metzen's mind works.

I'm certain Thrall is coming back to lead the Horde as Warchief, I've ALWAYS been certain of that from the time they first announced that Garrosh would be taking over...although perhaps not immediately. Garrosh was just keeping the seat warm for Thrall while he went off and became a badass Shaman, and screwing up just enough that everyone on both sides would be happy to see him return.

Its too co-incidental that the Aspects have lost their immortality at this time. Thrall becomes an aspect to replace Deathwing, and then suddenly we have no more Aspects, and so now Thrall is free to return to Orgrimmar and become Warchief again after his Big Adventure.

If I had to guess, Garrosh will get corrupted somehow (perhaps the Sha in Pandaria take him over?) and start doing Evil with a capital VIL. Vol'jin will lead the drive to bring Garrosh down, but he cant do it alone. We'll have a Wrathgate like event where both sides (Alliance & Horde) sort-of unite to take Garrosh down. Garrosh will be defeated but not killed however. Perhaps the corrupting influence will be driven from him, or maybe he will be killed and raised from the dead, but whatever happens...Orgrimmar will just be a setback. We wont see the last of Garrosh in MoP. Blizzard has plans for him.
