How often do we run through Gnomeregan? Also, how does that fit into the arc of the guild? Maybe think of it like an interactive historical archive?

We actually don't. However, I think it's a great idea. The only real issue is that we could only get five gnomes into the instances at a time. It's not a raid.

RP-wise, Dyna would want to help but would need a lot of emotional support from her friends to re-enter Gnomeregan.
Helayne would go in hopes of saving some survivors and learning of the fate of Miss Hangfire.
Trigonometry would be curious. She doesn't remember the place.

Jeribeth would need to be treated like B.A. Barakus and rendered unconscious, then dragged bodily into the place. Gizzy...it would depend on which Gizzy we're speaking with today. Boingboing would be happy to go see that pretty green mist stuff again. :-)

Pretty much what 'Dyna said. We have done two or three IC adventures there that were fun, and I'd like to see us do more. Especially among the level appropriate folks, because if a lvl 90 sneezes in there they wipe out half the instance. =)

Realistically/IC'ly I would say for the most part we are not needed there right now. S.A.F.E. and the military have the situation fairly well in hand for the moment. They are focused on rescuing the survivors they can reach while they wait for the radiation to dissipate sufficiently for major military operations to resume.

So they would very likely "encourage" a bunch of civilians like ourselves to stay out of their way until then, no matter how well intentioned or well equipped we might be.

On a personal note, Forbs dreams of the day G4 possesses the weapons, and the muscle, and the military precision necessary to enter Gnomeregan and bring the full weight of Gnomish justice down upon Sicco Thermaplugg. She longs to sweep Gnomeregan inch by square inch and methodically and mercilessly exterminate every living Trogg. And she wants to capture every Leper Gnome and deliver them safely to the scientists who are working on a cure for the radiation sickness.

Until that day however, we need to work together on our preparedness, practice our techniques, and refine our battle tactics. We can undertake hazardous missions throughout the world, and protect and serve our fellow Gnomes!

Radiation takes a very long time to dissipate, without help, and even longer for it to become inhabitable. I think they're trying to come up with technology to get rid of the radiation faster, but once they do they're going to have to actually get to the spots that's going to really help. The troggs are putting up some pretty strong resistance, so they're going level by level.

That said, the Gnomish Novelties of Medicine Emporium is stationed in New Tinkertown, and often doubles as a clinic for a lot of the sick gnomes coming out. Churche does what she can as a doctor to help evaluate and treat the rescuees as they come out, making trips into Gnomeregan fairly often. The rest try to help as much as they can when called to do so.

Blizzard needs to hurry up and finish allowing us to retake the rest of the city. They took an alliance city, but instead of giving Gnomes theirs, they give us Dalaran?

"Oh, they gave us a city. They just don't know it yet." Dyna says with a gleam in her eye. She resumes her reading of "The Idiot's Guide to Flying a Magical City"

"Hmm, I wonder if it has a wheel or a joystick?"

Well I have to believe that the "radiation" in game isnt quite like atomic radiation in our world. Otherwise why would the Gnomes have even considered using it against the Troggs in the first place? Even if Thermaplugg had been on the level and the failsafes he was supposed to have implemented had confined the radiation to the areas the Troggs were in, atomic radiation of the type we are familiar would have rendered the city unlivable for tens of thousands of years.

No the only explanation is that either the radiation in-game is not as lethal and long lasting as it is in our world, or the Gnomes already had the ability to clean it up BEFORE they deployed it the first time.

Of course attempting to apply logic to Blizzard's haphazardly written "lore" is always fraught with peril. For example have you ever pondered where in Gnomeregan "a marvel of steam driven technology" the Gnomes acquired "radiation" in the first place??

Are we to assume that lurking somewhere in the depths of Gnomeregan is Azeroth's first nuclear power plant? And that the Alliance is OK with leaving a madgnome at its controls because they are "busy"???

Has there ever been an all Gnome protest in front of the entrance of Gnomeregan?
"We want our city back!"
"Down with Troggs!"
"Time to pull the Thermaplugg!!!"
"Gnome Power!"
"We may be small, but we still count!"
"The Alliance has forgotten us!"
"A shoebox is not a home, even if we do fit!"
Even if it didn't work, it'd make for some awesome screenshots!
