In discussions with Fixton, 'Dyna, and Forbs, there are some things that will now be implemented in our raids (both Retro and 'Progression').

* At no point should any of this be taken that fun will no longer be tolerated in the raid atmosphere. We are Gnomes. We have fun. It is encouraged. *

The Basics:

1. Etiquette. The Primary concern here is simple: LISTEN to the Raid Leader. If the RL asks you to stop running ahead.....then stop that. The RL is the voice of Authority in a Raid. Do NOT talk over them.
1a. Etiquette Part 2. When a Fight Strat is being explained, Vent (or Raid Chat - whichever medium is being used) should be quiet. Hold all questions, comments and suggestions UNTIL the RL is done. The only time anyone should say anything over the RL is in the case of emergency. If you have a question, and figure you'll never remember to ask it when the time comes, then go ahead and ask it in Raid Chat. When the RL has a chance, they will answer it for you.

* We only want one voice going for strats, not 5. *

Retro Raid Night

One new thing we will be introducing for this, and it will be occurring ONCE A MONTH....and let me clarify this:

ONCE

A

MONTH....

...is 'Raid Academy'. What is this? Quite simple. Training our up-and-comings in how to operate in a Raid. There will only be 2 level 90's - a Tank/DPS, and a Heals/DPS. They are the trainers, and will act as back-ups in case anything goes wrong. The level appropriate members of the raid will do most of the dirty work - learning how to tank, how to move, when to use CD's, the best ways to heal,...how to run away with dignity. =)
As the group progresses through content into lvl70 raids, more 90's will be admitted as back-ups/trainers.
This is an experiment, I'd like to be up-front about this right now. We have no idea how well this will work. We are considering folding some RP into it, so instead of 'Dyna explaining the fight in Vent, it would be explained in RP. There are some obstacles to overcome in that regard, though.

There is one more thing regarding Raiding that will be brought up at our next Guild Meeting for everyone's consideration, so I'm not at liberty to divulge any details on that.

ALSO:

We would like to introduce some fun little games into our Raids. What we have right now are Trivia and a Scavenger Hunt.

Trivia - Fairly simple. After a successful Boss Fight, the RL will plop down 4 floating raid markers. Then, a Trivia question is asked, and 4 choices are given, each corresponding to one of the Raid Markers. The players move to which Marker they think is the right answer (if you've done the Trivia game that BoI did for their Anniversary, you know how it works) The player with the most Correct answers at the end of the night wins a cash prize. The questions will not necessarily be restricted to WoW, and could likely be quite diverse (....or perverse in difficulty).

Scavenger Hunt - The Raid leader will compile a list of about 7 - 10 items (an appropriate amount for whatever instance is being used) that might be looted in the instance. As an example, the list might look like this:

Grey Mail Helm
White Cloth Chest
A Mana Drink (not a potion)
A profession Mat
Blue Plate Boots
An Epic item unusable by your class.
Etc, etc.

The RL would compile a list before the raid starts, and once everyone is in, they can read the list off, OR wait until the end of the raid and read it off one item at a time to see who has what. The Player who manages to get the most items on the list wins a cash prize. Due the manner in which this is played, it will be very much 'Scouts Honor' that you don't stack the deck in your favor.

*Note* - This is an activity I was trying to recall last night in Vent when this was being discussed. I was trying to remember it all week, and couldn't. Why it came back to me this morning I have no idea. So, if there is a viable reason this can't be done, I'm okay with that.

If anyone comes up with another game to play during raids, please post suggestions here. There is no guarantee that it will be used, but it will be considered.

Oh! Don't worry, I had forgot about it too.

Sounds good Brixee.

The only thing I would mention is on the Academy nights, I know that a lot of us have most of our characters at or close to max lvl with a small portion of those that attend on at lvl characters....So not to be a downer but I am not sure how often you would be able to get a group together for that. Just something to be aware of.

I get what you're saying Coggs, I brought this up. I have 7 90s on WrA, and 1 85. The other two I have are roughtly 77 and 30, and the last slot I'm saving to start a pally.

As I said, it was brought up and it might need to be discussed more, but one way around that is that it might be open to any Alliance characters you have on WrA of appropriate level, we may even be able to expand that, due to REAL ID or battletag friends (assuming people are willing to pass that information to others).

Well personally I think it's a great idea. I actually kind of wish someone had though of it a bit sooner tho. One reason I haven't really been bringing Min in prot is simply because I got sick of trying to scramble and fail at getting aggro when higher lvls where hitting the boss. Ended up going Arms instead and have enjoyed it. At *some* point I should have a monk and a holy/disc priest coming up so I will def. be there on them.

Anyways that's all I wanted to say about the changes. I assumed someone had already brought it up but thought eh.

Oh 1 more thing. We going to rotate people doing the trivia deal or will it just be Brixee/Dyna/Gloom asking the questions?

Well, it takes feedback to get people thinking about new ideas and ways to improve. In this case, it took Gizzy's feedback. One thing I've learned is that if something is frustrating you, don't let it fester...bring it up. No one has a chance to fix an issue if they don't even know an issue exists.

I would think that if someone has the motivation, they can talk to Brixee or Dyna to run it sometimes. But, at the very least, I think you could send them your suggestions for questions, and those might be incorporated. This is still in idea form, so if you have some, bring them up with Brixee (the brains behind this idea).
