So as i am watching some video on youtube I see a couple of players attacking orgrimmar. Now this looked fun and all but there was nothing special about it so I realized what would make it more fun! Gnomes. Imagine the horror and mind games this would throw people into ill give you something to imagine that will help our case

A lone orc is going about his buisness when he stops for a break and as he sits there he notices off in the distance a huge mass coming towards the city " What in the w-....OH MY GNOME!!" tons of gnomes charging towards the city as he run he hears the shreiks of joy and giggles of the small people behind him, growing louder

Now can you imagine seeing all these small gnomes attacking everything in their path jumping on everyone

I Think we need to get a huge group of G4 gnomes to go and attack Orgrimmar and take the huge powerful orc leader "Garrosh" down to Gnome Level

Yeah. It wouldn't be just old garshy. It would be Garrosh, his friends, every bored Orc in orgrimmar, then every horde on the server who's logged on, simply because its gnomes and everyone hates gnomes.

Best possible outcome? Crashing the server.

Having participated in a couple of well planned and executed raids on Garrrosh (and still have zero kills to my credit), I can tell you that the odds are greatly stacked against you. Allow me to elaborate...

1. Garrosh hangs out right between the Auction House and the Bank, smack dab in the middle of the highest populated section of Orgrimmar. He is surrounded by Horde players 24/7, so unless you hit him at like 3AM server time, you can expect a large defensive response.

2. When you charge into the trade district of Orgrimmar full of NPCs, and players, and geometry youre going to hit a brick wall made of Latency as your PC attempts to download all that data at once and load it into memory. Half your raid could be dead before they even get a chance to fight back.

3. Garrosh's throne room has walls made of tissue paper, which allow the Horde guards outside the building to fire arrows through the walls and kill your raid members, while denying your raid the opportunity to engage those targets. You simply need to heal through all that damage.

4. Almost forgot Gamon. You can expect Horde players to train Gamon from the pub just outside the throne room into your raid. This was a bigger deal in Cataclysm where he was a lvl 85 Elite with 1.9M health. But he still a does 50k-150k damage per hit.

I've personally gone into Garrosh's throne room with TWO full raids of forty lvl 85's each. One raid dedicated to taking down Garrosh and a second raid dedicated to defending the first raid. And we did it right on the heals of a masterful piece of misdirection, using HGWT to lure Horde defenders to Undercity and then teleporting back directly into Garrosh's throne room!

We met with abject failure.

I'm not saying it cant be done (actually I think its been done once or twice on WrA at like 4AM server time). But its going to take half the combined might of the Alliance to pull it off in my opinion.

When I was questing through CRZ with my wife before we decided to start together on WA, we would be phased out from each other in Stormwind. I think SW and Org are completly CRZ free. :(

Not quite true. I'm not sure how it works, if it has something to do with pop at a given time or where the moon is.
But I've been thrown into another realms capital city. I think it really is just a matter of who had he lowest population at a given time.

Regardless of population, you will be CRZd if you group up with someone from a different realm (even Pandaria). Whether they come to yours, or you go to theirs, I'm not sure exactly how that works (I think the invitee is taken to the inviter's realm). A little pop-up warning will come up saying something to the affect of "joining this group may transfer you to another realm, blah, blah."

That's what I said, Fixton, and it's entirely based on population. CRZ is meant to be a population equalizer.

The times I've crossed the divide, I've been invites to a much smaller realm, usually containing smaller numbers of people within a certain region. Most times I'm put there, sometimes I'm left alone.

And I've been in an ironforge without grouping with anyone and seeing nearly everyone in view from a different server.

I got the kill in Cata with the a group composed mainly from the guild <Against All Odds>. We had about 30 people and attacked at around 5am. It took us quite awhile to kill him but we met with little resistance primarily due to the early hour but also because when the Horde tried to kite Gamon on us, he killed them instead.

Because of the location of Garrosh in Orgrimmar, lag can be a big issue, which was the case earlier that day when we had two full raid groups and wiped from all the lag (couldn't hardly move or see anything).

So my advice is to do this early in the morning.

Gear~wise: If you have PVE gear you'll down him faster but PVP gear will save you from any defenders. I'd say, since some people, like me, have only one set (PVP in my case), have the PVP geared folks watch the door and the PVE folks stand spread out in the back of the room. This won't protect everyone as much as it sounds because people will come in unflagged to attack, but it'll help.

Having a couple mages continuously rotate through Ring of Frosts at the door helps (but only if the Horde players coming in are flagged...)

Early in the morning is better, towards the end of an expac is better (who knows, with this end of expac raid coming, you may just get the ach from that...afterall, people got the killed by deathwing ach in DS)

Diminishing Returns is shared between different ring of frosts and after guilds cheesed Ring of Frost on Heroic Will of the Emperor it now has a 10 target maximum as of 5.1

The idea, really, is to attack during a time when the opposing population is going to be asleep.

And I've been in an ironforge without grouping with anyone and seeing nearly everyone in view from a different server.

I took screenshots of this the most recent time it happened to me. I ran into 3 people running into the IF AH, and none of them was on my active server (Khaz Modan). It was saddening...

I know there is CRZ in most of the capitol cities but I swear I read somewhere that Org and SW were CRZ free. If it turns out that you can cross realm with someone, I still have alliance characters on Farstriders, which is a lower pop server with a much stronger Alliance presence then Horde. It's also 2 hours ahead of WA so if we do a run late Saturday night or something, it will be even later there and less people will be on.

Not a single place, that I know of, is crz free. I'm sure they have the tech to turn places off and on, but it doesn't seem likely they want to use it, based on the design intent. It all matters if the area gets to a certain threshold.

Recall brawler's guild? It had that issue, where it was being Crz'd until enough people started going to it.
