No, it's not a copy of Overwatch. I'll ruin that guess for you right now.

If....you're a fan of a certain franchise of movies...this may be of interest to you.

It arrived Friday, but I finally had an opportunity today to get it uploaded. It doesn't have a lot of polish on it (the vid, I mean), but I'm hoping to slowly fix it up over time.

This is the only place I'm posting this, so don't look for it on my twitter.

When I get home, I'll provide some information on how you go about getting it. I'll warn you now, it does have a price tag

*sigh*
So, I had a whole bunch of stuff written out. And I was coming to the end of it

Then the power bumped, and I lost it all. I haven't had a really good day today.

I'll leave this link here, and hopefully tomorrow I can explain some of the intricacies better.

Note: the site doesn't seem to be working right now for some reason, but keep trying.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you!

I hope the company doesnt go out of business before they've shipped you all your parts.

Looking forward to seeing more on this epic project!

The model is close to the end, as far as shipping goes. In the UK (where this company is), they're on issue 75 or so, and in NA, we're on issue 66 or 67. I've only started on the subscription. DeAgostini also has other models they do on a sub basis, so I think it unlikely that they'll go out of business.
I discovered today that Model-Space delivers to Canada via FedEx to avoid shipment delays, so when I get billed, I know it's only going to be a matter of days until it gets here. And I like that! I plan on waiting for the next package to ship, then changing my sub to the 12 month one so I get twice as many packages a month. If I wanted, I could get all the packages I need to be current with the rest of the continent. I think that'd be overwhelming, though. *ponders getting current* Well, if I did, no one would see or hear from me for quite a while, and apparently, that's frowned upon for some reason.

I follow 2 Falcon builders right now: BradM73 and Chris Falcon.
BradM73 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeS14FLnW4PcDgGM0lJlgSnB6N8D6GIaS
Chris Falcon - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwfK5TQu9oJ8_peNc2qXj03Bv9eunPs25

Both of these guys update regularly. Chris is in the UK, which lets me see what is totally current in the sub. He's not an expert modeler, but he's quite fun to listen to. BradM73 is somewhere in the states (but I don't know where). He's fun to listen to as well, and he shows how he does every step. He also goes through the magazine to show his viewers what's in them. He's the only one I've found who does that. He has more experience than Chris in building, but he doesn't do much in the way of modifying.

Then, there's COlson: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvsS0brIxuNMhdthR1CPIwXhCC8PFlhhq
This guy modifies a lot, and he does incredible work. His photos of the passageways of his Falcon look like someone took pics from the film set.

I have tried watching a few other builder vids on youtube, but I've been left unimpressed with the presentation or they only did so much and stopped.

This model is a commitment of time and money. Without modifying it, the total price would be around $1500 US. If you want to completely modify and re-paint it, add another $300 - $500. Note: it doesn't *feel* like a $1500 drop of cash simply because the cost is spread out.

My next package will consist of issues 5 - 8 and a binder to keep all my issues in. It gets shipped in 2 weeks. I'm already impatient for it to get here.

A video update on my build so far:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jaGpQVnmV0&list=PLxcBAcCvdclhyqKhAvFlgZp-13uq0_IkT&index=2

Note I have slightly better music and graphics now. It still needs a little more work to fine tune it, but it's better.

And I've also added the build to my blog. It's got a little bit more information on the build there than I cover in the video.

Second month has come in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo-6Ad134yE

I've kludged together a better system for filming, but unfortunately, I neglected to ensure that the lens of the camera was free of debris, so it's a bit fuzzy. This will be an important thing for me to remember for next time.

I took pains to ensure that the lens was clean this time. It looks much better:

I unbox packages 4, 5 and 6 in this video. I haven't got package 3 yet, which kinda complicated things moving forward.

Well, on a personal note, the past two weeks have been less than stellar.

I have more stuff filmed - and rendered - ready to be uploaded. But my 'puter has decided to be grumpier than I am, and when it *does* upload, it does so slowly. And then it crashes.

I do need a new system, but that's going to happen when I find something I like (aka - good price).

TLDR - I have video, but I can't get them uploaded.

Package 3 finally showed up, so I have 1/2 of the bottom hull done, all the parts I need to finish the cockpit, and a majority of the parts I need to finish the interior. I have tested my fiber optics by putting some transparent paint on a couple of ends, and was surprised that it worked! It really shows red on the other end! Now, I can get all that done.

Now, my main problem is looking like package 7. It's been out of stock since early June, and it happens to be the next one I need. Actually, from what I've read on the build forums, I'm not alone.

At any rate, stuff is getting done.

Hey Brixee!

I'm at work so I can't look at the video but from context I'm guessing you've got a sub to the Millenium Falcon subscription?

My husband is doing that too! He's on issue 50+ I think now. I am informed that it is to be displayed in our living room (*cough*).

I might have to see if we can get him a US WoW account so he can come gnome with us as well and meet like-minded Star Wars fans like yourself as well :)

It is the Falcon I'm building, yes.

I know over there in the U.K. you can walk into a newsstand and pick up the latest issue, but over here, newsstands aren't allowed to do that. Here, we have to subscribe on a monthly basis.

I STILL haven't got my package 7 yet, but someone posted on the US forums that the shipment had finally arrived in LA Port. I'm assuming this was via Antarctica, Cape of Good Hope, and Tanzania (sarcasm).

In other news, DeAg's partwork Falcon model won an award from Disney, which marks the first time a partwork kit has won something like that.

Also, some time at the beginning of next year, they will be issuing an R2-D2 model that comes with all sorts of neat electronic things in it. I'm hoping to get my Falcon done (or close to it) by then, as R2 looks like it would be a fun build. And what Gnome WOULDN'T want to build a droid?

~ Brix

edit: I should note that there is currently no link available for the R2D2, but I will post one when it is out.

Doesn't really have much to do with the build, but there is a small snippet at the start.
