Get More Invasions - The invasions are actually instanced scenarios which are on a Per Character Cooldown. Once you complete the two on your map, you must wait for the cooldown (currently 3-4 hours) to expire before you can join new ones. But if you log to an alt, you'll see a fresh set of two more. So to maximize the number of Invasions you get, rotate through all your alts and you'll be able to chain them.

Getting There - If you dont have your Hearth set to the Shrine in Pandaria, then you NEED to do that. Ask one of our mages to port you there asap. Combined with your 15 minute guild hearthstone, you'll be able to get everywhere quickly. Note: if you dont have flight yet, you'll have to get a little more creative with your routes. Get guildies to help you acquire any Alliance Flight Points you may be missing.

Westfall - Hearth to the Shrine, jump in the Stormwind portal, exit the Mage Tower, make a hard right turn and fly south by south-west (7 o'clock) and you'll be in Westfall before you know it.
Azshara - Hearth to the Shrine, jump down the Stormwind Portal, then dive in the Mount Hyjal portal at the Earthshrine (lvl 80+), hang a hard right and fly south by south east (5 o'clock) and you'll be at Orgrimmar's back gates in a minute and change.
Tanaris - Hearth to the Shrine, jump down the Dalaran Portal, head into the Violet Citadel and take the Caverns of Time portal, make an about-face and mount up. Fly north by north west (11 oclock) and you'll be in Gadgetzan in half a minute.
Hillsbrad - Hearth to the Shrine, jump down the Ironforge portal. Grab a Gryphon from the Great Forge to Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands. Hop on your mount, do an about face and fly south over the ridge and Tarren Mill will be dead ahead.
Northern Barrens - Hearth to the Shrine, jump down the Ironforge Portal, grab a Gryphon to Menethiel Harbor, and take the boat to Theramore. Hop on your mount and fly north by north west (11 oclock) till you get to the Crossroads.

Get More Shards - The large Named Demons will reward you additional shards when killed. Look for the large green skulls on your map, fly to them and assist other players in killing them.

Surviving - If youre low level or just playing a squishy class, the better part of valor may be to simply do a little damage to the big bads, and then withdraw to a safe distance and let other players finish them off.

Even if youre a max level player and rocking plate, the large named demons can kill you pretty quickly if you dont watch out. Stay alert to graphic effects on the ground, and get out of them quickly! Also watch for cast bars on the bosses, and get out of spell range, or pop survival cooldowns before they fill.

In places around the map there will be siege vehicles for both Horde and Alliance. These have greater survivability and firepower and really should be used to take down the last boss.

Make sure you have Target of Target turned on. Bosses can two or three-hot even Tanks. Share the Aggro by Taunting off the bosses current target if you see they have less then 75% health. Hunters/Warlocks you can help by ordering your Pets to Taunt in a pinch.

Remember Gnomes...group up and never give a demon an even break.

We have to have a G4 response to an invasion! I know getting a bunch of gnomes together is like herding cats but if we all agree not to do our limit ahead of time maybe we can do a couple invasions after our guild meeting. With a little coordination using mages and warlocks, we can easily bring a large force of gnomes to bear onto those pesky demons.

Just to add, it's not just the large mobs that are signified by skulls on the map that give out nethershards. There are also Large mobs stationed outside the bigger structures that drop on the map, especially things like teleport gates, even though they're not marked with skulls. These mobs also give out nethershards too.

For us low level gnomes, I'm finding the best thing to do to get a lot of exp. is when stage 2 hits, start running to possible spawn points of the demons. If you solo mobs (and no one helps) you get around 800-1000exp if you have heirloom gear on. Infernals gives around 8000xp. Litte Vaxildanya (my rogue) has been getting 1.5-2 levels per invasion doing this :)

Also, the gear in the chests will be at whatever level you are when you open them. I was collecting on another toon from 95-100 and at 100 i opened them and all the gear was ilvl 700! (all this info is as of Mon Aug 15.. i havent had a chance to jump on today to see if they did any changes.. hopefully not!)

It appears that XP gains from invasions have been nerfed recently. Now whereas you could go up at least 2 levels at around level 40 per invasion you're only going up about 1 level. Saying that though, the number of active invasions per character per invasion reset has increased so, technically there is a net increase of xp-per-hour depending on how quickly you can get to each invasion point...

The buff tables and vendors are no longer phased to the broken shore quest line. You can get them anytime on a character from 10-98. If you get the buffs from each table on a character level 10-80 you can almost 1 shot the mobs in the invasions and do not get removed after death. The main buff you want is the Holy Enhancement buff from the crystals infused with the Light from the Exodar. Also you can now get the Lucky Shirt and the flavor items Old Lucky Coin, Lucky Rat's Tooth, and Lucky Charm also on the horde side the toys from Patch 5.3: the cosmetic item Griftah's Authentic Troll Shoes, Whole-Body Shrinka', Sen'jin Spirit Drum, and Xan'tish's Flute on any horde character level 10-98 up until you do the Broken Shores quest line after that the vendors go away. The toys on the horde side are around 50g. So good luck and happy leveling and getting your stuffz.

Edit: The buffs start to not work at level 80.

Need an instant easy off-hand for your new level 100 toon?

Got a staff-wielding toon that you just leveled up to 100 but the invasions offer no staff or off-hand for priests & mages?

Draenor -> Shadowmoon Valley -> Just Outside Your Garrison is Gloomsade Grove. -> Cave located at coord 38,22. Bubbling Cauldron inside.

You will get:
Void-Boiled Squirrel iLvl 516
+33 Int
+22 Crit
+22 Haste

Its not awesome, but its free and very easy to get. Better than an empty slot.

Wouldn't getting a scribe to craft you an off-hand tome be better?

In the northern art of Tanaan Jungle there is an iLvL 650 INT OH thats easy to pick up, you just need to kill the lvl 99 elite guarding it. A little south-west of that location there is an orc building and inside is a shield (INT or STR).

Get Handy Notes Draenor Treasures addon to find them easily.

Also if you can luck into two BG wins in PvP without too much trouble, then you can purchase a decent OH from the Conquest vendor in Stormshield for just two of the Honor/Valor Medallion thingies.

Yep, the Resonating Tome of Zyzzix is better, located at Tanaan Jungle 46.9, 36.7. Its in the Fel Forge area, up the slop guarded by that white ghost. Its a book that gives:

+113 Int
+170 Stamina
+75 Crit
+75 Haste

Only problem, if you are a new level 100 with no level 3 garrison [no Lion's Watch outpost] and no flying it is a bit of a challenge to go get. But obviously well worth the hike. Not hard, just a long travel. Its a good idea to pick-up a couple flight paths on the way, esp if you aren't going to bother with the level 3 garrison. Or ask someone to fly you there.
