Rather than resurrect the epic "Enemy on island - issue in doubt." thread, thought I'd start one about my optimism for the future of WoW.

Others may have a different perspective, maybe they are melee DPS concerned about their treatment under Ion in raids, maybe they love Arena PvP and Tom Chilton's contributions to it, maybe money is tight and time to farm gold for Tokens is an issue so are concerned about Bobby Kotick monetizing them in the future?

For me:
  • Enjoying Legion, even with the fact that some gameplay aspects that I do enjoy require participating in gameplay I'm less enthused about in order to make progress, so far it ranks up there with Wrath of the Lick King, for me.
  • Gnome Hunters arrived with Legion. 😎
  • I appreciate the heck out of Metzen's contributions, but his Orc, Thrall, and Horde fixation, along with a concern that he had run out of ideas, makes his departure an opportunity for the future, IMHO.
  • Tom Chilton moving on, Ion Hazzikostas taking his place as Game Director for World of Warcraft, is a big plus for me. I was not a fan of Arena PvP and the development resources it consumed, nor the Arena PvP devs causing the pruning of instant cast heals from the PvE players. Tom Chilton also came across as being against personal housing, but perhaps he was just enthusiastic about being the frontman for a group decision. I'm a big Ion Hazzikostas fan so it's a win-win for me! 😎
  • I already expressed my Ion enthusiasm, but thought I'd further emphasize that I give him a lot of the credit for bringing back the raid difficulty that supports our G4 "friends & family" Sunday night raid. The old 10 Normal level of difficulty from WotLK was finally brought back with the Flex raid difficulty, which then made it's way into the current flexible Normal format and difficulty, aimed at "friends & family" type of guilds like ours.
  • Blizzard is free of Vivendi and their incompetence, mismanagement, embezzling, massive corporate losses and lavish European lifestyles funded on the backs of WoW subscribers. I'm not a fan of Bobby "Monetize and exploit the heck out of the customer & the IP" Kotick but he won't kill off WoW through incompetence, under his control WoW should last a long, long, time making him money and paying for his buying Blizz out from under Vivendi.

Looking forward to BlizzCon! Who knows, maybe personal housing, Gnome Paladins, Diablo IV with the return of the D2 Necromancer will be announced? Exciting times, a Gnome can dream! 😎

1. Type out an opinionated massive wall of text on The World (of Warcraft) According to Forbs.

2. Remember just before clicking POST that I'm a guild leader, and have a vested interest in NOT making people's heads explode over the internet.

I will only use my powers for good...I will only use my powers for good...I will only use my powers for good...

3. Sigh, Ctrl-a, Delete.

Indeed we have much to be optimistic about Folkston.

How bout them sportsballers eh? =D

LOL, Forbs. 😀

I'm also encouraged to see Chromie, our favorite dragon who prefers to appear as a Gnome, is the Heroes of the Storm representative on the BlizzCon 2016 Key Art. 😎

Other artwork had the ETC as the HotS rep, so a change for the better, IMHO. 😃

To write these lines implying that you could write something inflammatory/unpopular and then calling attention to the fact that you did not does you no favors in public perception.

Say what you will or do not.

As to the content itself...I do not understand this line of reasoning. A forum is a place for discussion and you are as entitled to your opinions as anyone else, leader status being irrelevant. In fact, being the leader you are perhaps more entitled to speak than anyone. This guild is your brainchild, after all. Why should that stop you from commenting?

Pendie: Its a little weird and I havent quite adjsted to it myself. You see in MY head, unless I specifically "have my GL hat on" so-to-speak to deal with guild management stuff...I think of myself as "Just Forbs." Just one of our two hundred odd members. No more important, and no less.

And like many other members, I love WoW, my guild, RP, game lore, and all things Gnomish. And of course I love to talk about all that stuff, and I have strong opinions on all of it.

But I have found that as GL my opinions seem to carry a lot of weight. Too much in fact. I've noticed it here on the forums. I've noticed it at the RP workshop. I've noticed it in the OOC channel. Far too often when discussions are really getting good, and I weigh in with my opinions on a subject...that conversation quickly ends.

Another classic example, is when I'm playing my alts. Members treat my alts differently in the OOC channel when they dont know its me. Sooner or later of course there is the inevitable "Wait, thats Forbs?" moment, and then I'm back to being treated like the boss gnome again.

I swear one of these days I'm gonna sneak an alt into the guild that none of you know just for that reason.

So I've learned that when I really want to stimulate discussion, and exchange of ideas, when I want to find out what my guildies really think...my best course of action is usually just to keep my big mouth shut and listen. =)

@Forbs Awww. 😧

To tell you the truth, I'm glad you brought your little issue up because I wasn't sure how you wanted to be treated on your alts. Fact is, I already tend to treat folks differently on different toons. So moving forward, unless you have the purple hat on, you are going to be treated as just one of the regular gnomes.

As far as your opinions, speak them. Yes, they carry weight. More weight than most of the other gnome's opinions. However, you should know from experience that does not stifle discussion. Furthermore, you have have interesting thoughts. Personally I like hearing them! Miss our impromptu chats about everything and nothing.

I should reapply for my officership at large, special projects, and morale position just so you have someone you can talk to.
